We go to games and the pool. We make great stained glass pictures in crafts and go to get snow cones and snacks.
By the time we head to get snacks I have decided not to go to the trail. It has to be in the 90's...I'm hot, sweaty and what I would really like to do...is nap. I've never told anyone about the promise. No one would care anyway.
I drop off my campers for music time and before I realize it I am headed for the trail. The walk to the trail is long...it was hot...but on I went.
As I travel the trail...I see the reminders of God's covenant to us. The signs are not new...I've walked it so many times I know where the signs will be. How incredible it is that God made a covenant to us beginning with Abraham thousands of years of ago, and I am reminded of it today. His words...ancient words on wooden signs. Remnants of the promise never broken.
My promises to him I break often. His to me never. I am glad I have kept this promise.
This year's camp journey has been awesome. An opportunity to unplug from our "normal" lives and spend a week building relationships.
We sing in worship, "Amazing love how can it be. That you my king would die for me. Amazing love I know its true, and it's my joy to honor you. In all I do, I honor you." We share the body and blood. We remember and give thanks and light candles.
The candles are a symbol of the light we take into the world. He is light and that light fills us all up. Tomorrow...we bring the light home.
Lights out...
