I nod and smile my response, "I know that is the miracle of it."
You see, those that really know me understand that organizing details is just not my natural bent. Dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's" is not something that comes easy for me. I often forget when volunteers are out of town and my keys seem to walk off at the worst times. It drives my husband and my oldest crazy at times. I am not a planner of calendars or list maker...mostly I just kind of "go with the flow". Walking through my days doing the next thing required not too concerned if my schedule is off or the day doesn't go the way I would like.
For me, that is the miracle of Wednesdays. God knows who I am and continually provides what is needed through an awesome team that gathers each Wednesday afternoon.
This morning I am most thankful
...for those smiling in the kitchen that prepare the snacks and serve the food, for the four who drive buses and those who ride along to help the ride go smoothly.
...for the grandmother who brings her sweet granddaughter from Rusk, the one who arrives early to get things done that I have forgotten.
...the three that plan arts and crafts and games, the four who teach ukelele, bells, choir, and recorder.
...the sister-in-law who reminds me it is report card day and I have to collect and copy them.
...the one who helps with homework, and the many that teach bible.
...the one who created the computer system and the one who takes attendance.
...for the retired minister who helps and the one who greets children in the sanctuary.
...teens who go wherever I need them and do whatever is asked of them.
I asked for volunteers and they responded. Each with gifts needed to create the miracle that happens on Wednesdays. A true picture of God weaving us together as the body of Christ.
"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service but the same Lord. There are different kinds of workings but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work....Just as the body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ."--1 Corinthians 12
