Getting Connected

It's our first full day and I walk by her at lunch.  She looked familiar...like someone I should know.
I wondered how I knew her...where the connection was.  Well of course I know her, she looks just like her mom...and a lot like her aunt who used to come to camp with me.  The same aunt who met her hubby here at the The View.  And her grandparents are members of our church.  (Have you figured it out yet?)

Lakeview has a way of connecting us...with God...with others.  By this time at camp not only are we connecting more with the friends we brought with us, but we are also making lots of new friends.  By now we've let go of the walls we had when we came and are willing to reach out.   By this time tomorrow we'll be exchanging information with our new BFFs and promising to keep in touch.

You don't have to walk far to see someone you are connected with here.  The superintendent of Lakeview was the first preacher I worked for.  I ate breakfast with one I serve in Emmaus with yesterday.    I've cooked for some at UM ARMY and watched many grow through the summers.

In the book of Corinthians Paul says, "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."  Camp sort of makes that real...not just words on a page.  Yes we swim and kayak.  We climb to high places, and play silly games with stuffed animals.  All the while God is weaving us together, connecting us in ways that will last a lifetime.
