I am adopted...

He catches me in the hall as I'm making last minute preparations for Wednesday's kids,

"We received word, we have a grandson" as he shows me his sweet picture.

Each morning this week I have awakened with prayers for them on my lips.  All the plans have been set in motion. They will board a plane today to take them halfway around the world where their feet will walk on foreign ground. Words will be translated from one language to another...sights and sounds of another culture surround them.

I keep trying to imagine it. What it will be like when they see him face to face for the first time? I wonder how in the world they will contain the love that's been growing in their hearts for so long now. They have gone to great lengths to adopt this little one chosen just for them.

This is the week we celebrate adoption and I am reminded God did the same for us.
Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.--Eph. 1: 3-6 The Message
Long before we were real he put the plan in motion. When the time was right he arrived all dressed in skin and bones. Love could no longer be contained as it spilled out on the cross. He has gone to great lengths, traveled many miles, endured great pain all for love.  This is not a general love, some random act of kindness...this is beautiful, uncontainable love poured out for you...for me.

Can you imagine? Can you even fathom the moment?  When we see him face to face and recognize the fullness of that love.  I feel like shouting it from the roof tops  this morning...I am adopted...me...ADOPTED!
