Happy New Year!

It's that day again, and as usual I've been reflecting.  When I thought about the joys, the children's ministry at FUMC was first on the list.  I find myself giving thanks

...for the opportunity to share His love and His word with children and their families

...for inspiring adults and teens to teach bible, dance, sewing and so much more.

...for children involved in several mission opportunities.  They organize and pack food sacks for our food pantry clients.  Book bags have been sewn to send to UMCOR.  Little hands have stitched gifts that our staff takes to those who are ill.

...for making a way when we couldn't squish one more into the van.  Our new bus just got a paint job.  The mini-Methodist Express is almost ready for the new year!

...for the seventy who joined us at Lakeview this summer
...and special events like VBS and the Halloween Carnival.

I would love to tell you this was my goal was from the start.  That at some point I sat down and planned it all out.  How it would grow...and volunteers would come...and a people mover and bus would be added.  How I knew that we could help campers pay their fees and kids would get excited about serving others.  I would love to tell you that...but it wouldn't be the truth.

The only plan I have is to love God and love others.  I don't always get that right either.  And so let's give credit where credit is due.  God has the plan...for you...for me.  He has the plan for jobs and children and this community.  Looking back over a year is proof His way is better.  Looking ahead takes faith to remember that He has the best in store for us.

It's only a few hours away and I am praying blessings for you and yours.  May 2015 be filled with more love for God and others.  Can you begin to hear the countdown...10, 9...6,5...3, 2, 1...
