Top Five Things About Summer Camp

Top Five Things About Next Year's Summer Camp

Lakeview Summer Camp has been a tradition at our church for... well ever since I can remember:)  I attended camp as a child and just kept on going. Throughout the years there have been seasons of change, and this is one of those seasons. Two years of planning and preparation have brought about the changes coming to Lakeview in the summer of 2017. I am excited to give you the top five things you'll need to know as you plan for next summer. Yes, believe it or not, we are planning for next summer.

1.  Camp date for next summer:  July 9-14, 2017
Summer camp will be extended to five nights. We will leave on Sunday, July 9th after worship and come home Friday, July 14.  That means another full day of camp fun. Yippee!

2. We're taking younger kids.  Yep, you heard me right. Camp will now begin with children entering third grade. We are super excited about the new age groups. Throughout the year we will be giving you tips and tricks to get your child ready for their first year of camp.

3.  Volunteers Needed: In the past years the local church has been responsible for everything related to camp. From registration, to budgeting, curriculum and finding volunteers for every single job. This year Lakeview will be hiring staff to help with some of this responsibility but not all of it. We will still need camp counselors and many others to help make camp a success. If you feel led to give your time to our camp ministry please contact Stacy Boyer or Cassie Bingham.

4.  Cost will increase. Cost of camp will increase this year. Each year our church works to raise funds in order to send kids to camp. Cost for camp in 2017 will be at least $200.00 per camper. What does "at least" mean. It means camp actually costs $400.00 per person. In order to help as many as possible go to camp we ask families to pay a minimum of $200.00 but if a family can cover the total camp cost that is great. There are scholarships available for youth who need further assistance in going to camp. Think about it. Just saving $10.00 per week can send two children to camp this summer.

5.  Job Opportunities Available: Lakeview is looking for college age camp counselors and program staff for next summer. If you are college age and would like a summer job please check out the website www.lakeviewmcc.org for more information.

There you have it. Now spread the news. We are excited about the new things happening at one of our favorite places in the world.
