Firsts at UM ARMY

We joked about driving over tall bridges...even taking a different route. Instead we headed to Pasadena via the tallest bridge I think I have ever seen. I talked to myself about it on the way...trying to build up my courage. A few years back I would have taken one look at it and pulled to the side of the road. Complete fear would have kept me from going any further...fear does that. And so for the first time I drove over a really, REALLY, scary bridge.

Those who came along with me...they have had many firsts too. Meeting new friends for the first time...using a hammer and digging in the black mud...making it through their first night with a deflated air mattress...cutting wood with a circular saw.

We visit sights this week to see how the work is going.

This choosing firsts instead of fear is no easy task. God said it many times, "Do not fear". We had to cross the bridge to get here...this place of serving and loving and giving. Something I would not have missed for the world!
