Christmas Eve's Devotional
Angels
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of
great joy that will be for all the people…”
Luke 2:10
Angels are
supernatural creatures created by God as His messengers. Because angels are
supernatural, people are afraid when they see them. They almost always tell the
people they visit, “Do not be afraid.”
God used
angels to let people know about the coming of His Son to the earth. An angel
named Gabriel was sent to Mary to ask her to be His mother. Joseph heard about
Jesus from an angel who visited him in a dream. After Jesus was born, God sent
a whole host of angels to the shepherds to tell them about His Son.
Angels were
created to praise and serve God, they are His messengers.
Angels were created by God and so were we.
Ask God to help you be His messenger to the world, just like
the angels.
The angels’ announcement to the shepherds is found in the
Bible: Luke 2:8-14
