Kids ask the darndest things...

She catches me as I walk across the commons area...tells me she has a question. I smile and encourage her to ask.

"Well," she says, "If God's love has no beginning and no end, then did he just create himself."

Now that is a question that will make you pause. I dig down deep to explain the unexplainable. I share how time is created for us and that God doesn't need time to exist. She nods and I say, "You see, God is...he just is."

"Oh," she nods and raises her hands. "God is like in a time warp."
I giggle because maybe He is.

Confirmation class arrives first and I have a few minutes with them before the others arrive. I ask them to tell me what they are learning. How their faith exploration is going. We talk about John Wesley and hearts strangely warmed. One says she has finished her reading of Luke.

The boy a few rows up raises his hand and say, "Mrs. Stacy, what if life just gets in the way?"

I guess that is the question we would all love to have answered. The adult beside me says it best...

"The important thing is to keep going even when life gets in the way. Don't give up because you forget to pray one day or didn't get to study your Bible. Just try again the next day."

This is why we do Wednesdays. It is really not about the big people having the right answer...it is about the little ones asking questions. It is about us not getting all the answers right and kids who do.

I am reminded that because God Is...when life gets in the way...we just keep going.
