Set Apart..again

With tennis shoes on I head out for a pre-breakfast workout.  The mornings at Lakeview are some of my favorite times.  The two words from last night's worship continue to tumble around...

Set Apart...

In the first chapter of Romans Paul writes, "Paul, a bond servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God.  Things here at camp are definitely set apart.

One of the young ones asks me before we got off the bus, "is there a television in our cabins?"  I smile because the absence of televisions was a true surprise to him.

I jog past the main house where the one set apart to lead Lakeview lives.  He gave me my first job in the church.  I turn and think about a friend's son and an intern set apart to lead senior high camp...and the five volunteers that came here with us who have been set apart to offer Christ to our campers.

Di reminds us at breakfast that sometimes we think being set apart means some grand scheme on a large scale where we speak to the masses.  But really most of the work is a small scale business...loving God and loving others happens mostly in small doses.  And is there really anything that small about it?

I finally make it to one of my favorite places
I stand on the new fishing pier they have built to take the picture.  In the quiet comes a familiar sound though hearing it at camp is new.  A rooster he begins to crow...waking those in slumber...celebrating the beginning of day's light.  Is it possible that God has created a bird set apart to wake us up...to remind us that His mercies are new every morning.

Anything is possible around here.

Now I am off to see what our happy campers are up to this afternoon.
