Just this week my son he asks, "How do dinosaurs fit into the Bible?".
My niece texts me, "Jesus and Mary Magdalene were not married am I correct?"
The reality is that there are some questions we may never have the answers for...and that serves to remind us that God is a big God. I answered my niece's question as best I could stating what I knew about the subject...and then I texted this...
"Now for the real question. If it were true would it change what you believe about Him? Would he still be your Savior?"
She didn't answer me...I didn't expect one...though I wonder what her first thought was when she read it.
Questions like this can move us to new areas of growth and maturity. My son did not get a clear answer from me. Most of the time when I am asked these questions I answer, "What do you think?" It makes for great conversation and it gives young people an opportunity to develop the language to explain their faith. Every time we are asked a question we are given a chance to grow even closer to God.
Rev. Tom Stephenson begins his sermon this week with the question...
"What Jesus did you bring to worship with you today?"
He reminds us that our perception and understanding of Jesus is one that should be growing as we grow. The Jesus we learned about as children is probably not the same one we know today. Not because He has changed necessarily but because we have grown to understand him more.
I have been thinking about that question our pastor asked in worship Sunday. It is one you could ask yourself every morning. A question that could encourage us to take a look at our own growth. As we grow and mature the answers to these questions will grow as well.
"What Jesus did you greet this morning?"
"What Jesus did you bring to work, or play...to school or home?"
"What Jesus...
