I said it this morning, "Don't get overwhelmed with the big picture. God will lead you step by step."
It's how God led me to be able to do this Wednesday thing. If six years ago you would have asked me to come up with a program that could serve this many kids, I couldn't have. Like Moses talking to the burning bush, I would have had my excuses ready...not enough transportation...not enough volunteers...not enough space, or playground equipment. I certainly would be quick to point out that my organization skills were not up for the challenge. I remember the Wednesday I celebrated thirty-two kids coming. Serving five times that many was an unthinkable challenge.
Step by step God has brought us to this place...provided the volunteers and transportation. Step by step our schedule has changed and we've revamped many areas to be the best we can be on Wednesdays.
It wasn't much different with Moses. He was called to lead the people out of Egypt, but God didn't give the five step plan on how to do it. He wasn't sent to a training conference on how to lead thousands. He didn't get to read the idea book on how to handle children on a long journey. God called...Moses answered...and step by step Moses led the people to the promised land. For the most part this is the way God leads us along our journeys. We hear the call and take a step and pretty soon what was once 32 becomes 143 and you look back and wonder how in the world you got to this place.
And now every Wednesday gives me reason to celebrate. Not because the numbers are higher but because each Wednesday is an opportunity to take another step. A step that leads those who serve and the kids we are serving just a little closer to Jesus.
This week we are taking a step to make pick-up a little safer. I have been concerned about the traffic back up on the loop for some time now so Wednesday we are gonna change it up. Vehicles are going to be entering the church parking lot off of Corinth Road. Please continue straight around the back of the church and then turn to form the pick up line. We will continue to have two pick up lines. All cars will then exit onto the loop.
I would also request that all volunteers and adults please park in the side parking lot this Wednesday to help us avoid congestion in the front parking lot.
