Coming Home

The house is quiet this morning as I reflect on a wonderful week at camp.  It never fails.  I always come home from Lakeview with more than I took with me.

Like the sore feet from all that walking.  One or the counselors had a great idea to wear a pedometer at camp this week.  It reads...32 miles.  Even if its off by ten that's still a lot of miles.  Over six miles a day...I think my nephew has the right idea.

And the laundry...oh, the laundry.  Four campers from one house equals mountains of damp clothes and smelly socks.

Those pesky scorpions.  Yes, I usually bring a few home buried deep in the laundry mountain.  If I'm lucky they drown in the wash.

A few extra pounds.  I know what you're thinking...how in the world with all that walking?  But it's true we eat more than we burn.  Breakfast, lunch, and supper...snack shack cookies and treats.  And let's not forget the counselor's room with all those goodies.

Among my favorites...the camp t-shirt.  I could wear a different one each day of the week for a month.  A wonderful reminder of the experience we have had.  Don't forget to wear your camp shirt to church tomorrow.

Mostly I have this heart overflowing with praise and thanksgiving for a church who supports the youth and kids of our congregation and community...for the leaders who spent hours planning camp...for the counselors who loved our kids...for the drivers who delivered and picked us up luggage and all.  I am thankful for the connections that will last a lifetime and the friends who we will see next year.

I consider myself blessed to have spent a week with a group of awesome kids and teens.  They made me smile, laugh out loud, and cry tears of joy.  I wish I could bottle their voices singing during worship for you to hear.

I give praise to the Great I Am who touched each of us in inspiring ways.  For the simple truth that God holds on to us and continues each year to meet us deep in the woods of East Texas.  Want to hear this week's theme song.  Just click on the link below.

Now...what's next?  Why Vacation Bible School of course!  Join us for a week that emphasizes being the hands and feet of Jesus...sharing His love with our community, nation, and world.  We will be shining His light on July 27th--July 30, 6:00 to 8:00 each evening.  It all begins with a party in the park complete with a hotdog cook out and more!
